'Here are five of the president’s most controversial — or, simply absurd — tweets from over the holiday break:'

1. He blamed Democrats after two migrant children died U.S. Customs and Border Protection custody.
2. The president advocated for a border wall by pointing to a case in which an undocumented immigrant allegedly killed a police officer.
3. Then there was a gem of a tweet where he wished everyone, “including the haters and the fake news media,” a happy new year.
4. After Army Gen. Stanley McChrystal said that he believes the president is dishonest and immoral, Trump fired back, referring to the general as a “dog” with a “big, dumb mouth.”
5. The president was all about his messaging regarding his proposed border wall over the break. In another tweet, he said that the Obamas have one for their private residence, therefore the U.S. should have one, too.

'Common On R.Kelly Documentary: “We Failed As A Community”'

Rapper and actor, Common, feels that the black community as well as the system failed the survivors - he specifically speaks out against the system as not "[valuing] black women". He states that: "If it wasn’t just black women that he was molesting and abusing, he would have been attacked by the system in a different way, meaning the system doesn't have a value for black women the way they do...you know white women or just other nationalities". He believes that many of these black women who went ignored for years during and following the alleged abuse experienced during relations with R Kelly - Common added that “We failed as a community because we knew that these things were happening and instead of trying [to help], we [were] just rocking to the music. I'm guilty of that myself because I didn't stop and be like 'no! and speak against this". Many people who commented on the video clip agreed with Common’s views. One user said: “I agree with Common. It's OUR responsibility, not anyone else's. Everybody is talking out now, but everyone, all the bystanders, were silent and complicit while it was happening because they were getting paid. You know that the black community has a taboo against "being a snitch" and we mind our own business if it doesn't directly affect us. I feel like if there were white victims, it would have been reported sooner.”

This story is particularly relevant in the present media and especially with in the black community. Accusations against R Kelly have been made for over a decade however it is speculated that authorities and community didn't do much to stop or act out against it as the majority of these victims were afro-caribbean women: due to their position in society as a minority they were believed to be ignored or not supported enough by the system. This news story is a relevant post on the Voice as it reflects their stance on bringing black women out of the dark and in the weakened position they have been put under. Common is also a huge influence in the black community so his stance on this situation will be seen as relevant and audiences will be interested to hear what he has to say. This article is an example of quality journalism - audiences would read this article for surveillance or possibly personal identity as some audiences may be able to relate to the R Kelly scandal having been positioned in similar situations and experiences.
