Magazine front cover - Learner response

1) Add your finished magazine cover as a JPEG image.

2) WWW- Super photo and visual impact
EBI- Typography at the bottom is obscured by background image ; date/price? (attention to small details).

3) What are the strengths of your production based on the the mark scheme? Think about magazine cover conventions and the media language techniques you have used to communicate with your audience (e.g. mise-en-scene, camera shot etc.)
12/15. Strengths: I have covered most of the typical media magazine conventions (relevant cover image, title of magazine, masthead, cover lines, magazine layout, colour scheme, social media reference). I have also used media language techniques such as mise en scene and a direct mode of address close up camera shot to communicate the ethic and message of the magazine to the audience. Communicated clear meanings and messages of magazine through the cover lines on the front - the reader would know exactly what to expect from the magazine.

4) Look at the mark scheme again. What can you do to move your mark higher and, if required, move up a level?
Pay attention to small/minor mistakes and details to make magazine look more complete - for example use a more visually noticeable colour scheme and put more effort into constructing models attire and visual appearance to correspond with the magazine, also include price and date etc.

5) What would be one piece of advice you would give a student about to start the same magazine cover project you have just completed?
Your cover image is the most visually noticeable thing on the magazine as well as the colours and typography you use - make sure the cover image is bold and communicates what the magazine is about and make sure you use a bold, enticing colour scheme for your target audience.
